Michelle Obama -- Saying Good Things About Mrs. Obama Today

I was poking around the interwebs the other day and I found some old blog by some old lady and she had to say dismissive things about her political opposites, well she had to say mean things about Republicans, it was required of her, while she was saying good things about Michelle Obama. And it was just so clear what a good thing it was for her to be able to look at Mrs. Obama in the White House -- it was a good thing for her heart and I had to stop for a moment and breathe deep and remember that though I'm so disgusted with these clowns in power that I forget, I just do forget, that there is this other thing going on right now. It is a symbolic thing, maybe merely an image thing going on, but for many in this country it is a good thing -- forgetting for second the bad stuff they are trying to DO -- but the fact that for many just taking a look at that family, and where they are, it is a good and uplifting thing.
And I remembered on the day after the election when a happy, trying-not-to-gloat colleague asked if I was upset about the outcome and I said how could I be upset? This is America. We vote. We win. We lose. We vote again. It's a mystery and it's a miracle and it's majestic.
And of Obama I said I don't think that this will be merely symbolic, but if it is, if it is only symbolic, if his election is only symbolic and nothing positively transformative occurs, well that will be enough for now. God Bless America and our new First Family.

Of course I am -- did I say this already? -- disgusted by what these power clowns attempt, but look at Michelle Obama and her daughters and how can that image be bad for me when it is so good for so many? It should do all of our hearts good. As for the politics, we can run them off in a few years.

Hugh Hewett wrote of Michelle Obama today. I don't listen to him on the radio all that much any more -- mostly since he defended the Harriet Meyers thing. But I read him. Here's his stuff in the DC Examiner today.
Hugh Hewitt: A fine first year for the first lady

But Michelle Obama has had a very good year since her husband won the presidency in November 2008.

Turns out that, like the wonderful Laura Bush, Michelle Obama has become a largely apolitical, powerfully positive figure in public life. She has embraced child nutrition as a key cause, and this is a fight worth fighting.

Mrs. Obama has also set a great example as first mom, with the girls carefully and rightly screened from the peril of becoming unwilling pop icons and mini-celebrities. Her public appearances have been graceful and full of good humor.

With the president, she tried to bring the Olympics home to Chicago, and though the collapse of the American bid seems to have been preordained in retrospect, her willingness to do what she could to help in a high-risk, very public way was gutsy and admirable. A willingness to take some risks is a fine characteristic to model.

Here's the test: Are the nation's school kids looking at the first lady and seeing an example of class, style and learning? Are people from around the world seeing in the first lady a warm and welcoming representative of the country?

The answers throughout 2009 have been yes and yes, and that is a great thing as well as a fine beginning for Michelle Obama.

Huckabee Huckabusted -- Another Buffoon From Arkansas

Four police officers slaughtered by Huckabee protégée. Jake TapTap Tapper wrote this almost two years ago:
In fact, an Arkansas Leader study indicated that Huckabee helped free more prisoners from 1996 through 2004 than were freed in the six neighboring states — Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas — combined.
None of the prosecutors were ever told why Huckabee felt compelled to have a hand in freeing so many prisoners, though all of them speculate that his deeply religious nature led to a strong belief in repentance and forgiveness. In some cases, prosecutors say, evangelical leaders attested that a prisoner had found Jesus and that seemed to influence the governor's thoughts.

Yeah, well if they “found Jesus” in prison, then perhaps that’s where they should stay – right there where their Jesus is to be found.

Okay to go ahead and regain alla that weight, Huckabee. I don’t care what Chuck Norris says, this is just one more reason why I’d never vote for any one from Arkansas – the North Korea of North America.

And yeah, I heard a few minutes of Mike Gallagher this morning and it sounded like he was getting ready to defend Huckabee.
I didn't stay tuned.

Navy SEALs / Navy JAG -- Two Pictures -- You Be The Judge

Look.
Who's protecting us?
Rough men or soft lawyers?
Updatery
September 23, 2010:
Okay. The comparison picture of the JAG officers has been removed from this post. You no longer get to do the visual comparison of the legal minds to the warrior minds. Not on this post. For several reasons.

Tho it was stated clearly that the pic we removed was of Minnesota lawyers, and it was stated clearly that it was used merely for the purpose of illustration, and it was stated clearly that the picture was used with due respect, that said, it may be true that comparing JAGS to SEALS is questionable.

Is it ever appropriate to compare lawyers to warriors? Nope. Not an apt comparison.

Navy SEALS may be compared to Navy SEALS, perhaps to Army Rangers, but not to lawyers.

Those JAG lawyers we had a picture of  looked like good folk, looked a whole lot like us and our friends -- just saying -- and we never should have belittled them on here Boom3 -- or even appeared to belittle them -- in an attempt to express our awe for SEALS or our distain for the prosecution of SEALS that was occurring when this was posted last November.

An observant and annoyed reader (see comments) took us to task for several things in this post.

He questioned our ability to read, noting that the lawyers in the post about Navy JAG lawyers were really Army JAG lawyers. Not a big deal in our book, given the caveats of the post, and we gotta take his word on that.

But, his larger point was the more important point. JAG officers, no matter the branch of service, wear the uniform of the United States.
They serve our country.
They do so often at some sacrifice in their personal lives, they do so at some sacrifice to themselves and their loved ones.
That service must be honored.
That sacrifice must be respected.
At all times.
One ought not let one's distain for legalities or creeping political correctness or wrong-headed prosecutions of warriors -- who also have a job to do -- make one forget the service and sacrifice of these men and women in uniform. That was forgotten for a moment in this post.

However he got to this old post, thanks to our annoyed reader for calling it out in the middle of the night.

And as for the sitting on the couch part of his accusation, I don't even own a couch. But if I did, and if I were sitting on it in safety, I'd attribute that safety to the men and women in uniform, yes even JAG officers, and I'd continue to thank them daily in my actions, in my thoughts and in my prayers.
End of updatery.

The picture of the lawyers [Now removed]  is from Minnesota Lawyer Blog and its inclusion here is merely illustrative. It is used without permission and it is used with all due -- due -- respect. Pictured in this photo provided by Beck-Brown are members of the military justice team. From left, they are paralegal [Names respectfully removed].
On the other hand, the picture of the real men is a United States Navy file photo of Navy SEALs operating in Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. From left to right, Sonar Technician (Surface) 2nd Class Matthew G. Axelson, of Cupertino, Calif; Senior Chief Information Systems Technician Daniel R. Healy, of Exeter, N.H.; Quartermaster 2nd Class James Suh, of Deerfield Beach, Fla.; Hospital Corpsman 2nd Class Marcus Luttrell; Machinist’s Mate 2nd Class Eric S. Patton, of Boulder City, Nev.; and Lt. Michael P. Murphy, of Patchogue, N.Y. With the exception of Luttrell, all were killed June 28, 2005, by enemy forces while supporting Operation Red Wing

Navy Seals Betrayed Again -- Clown Justice

Time for term limits -- Vince Flynn Term Limits

Navy SEALs have secretly captured one of the most wanted terrorists in Iraq — the alleged mastermind of the murder and mutilation of four Blackwater USA security guards in Fallujah in 2004. And three of the SEALs who captured him are now facing criminal charges, sources told FoxNews.com.
The three, all members of the Navy's elite commando unit, have refused non-judicial punishment — called an admiral's mast — and have requested a trial by court-martial.

Ahmed Hashim Abed, whom the military code-named "Objective Amber," told investigators he was punched by his captors — and he had the bloody lip to prove it.

Clown justice in the military starts with the commander clowns at the bigtop top -- currently cracking the three-ring whip up there are the inevitable results of affirmative action, political correctness and "don't punch the thugterrorist" societal oprahclownification.

Blackwater employess had more than busted lips to show for Ahmed Hashim Abed and his religion of peace devotion.

Palin's Book Tour Is Racist -- Says ESPN/CNN Granderson

Over at CNN/ESPN LZ Granderson thinks he received “strange looks” when he scooted over to the Mrs. Todd Palin book signing in Grand Rapids the other day. Perhaps he did get strange looks. Who can say?

We’ve all received looks here and there, I’d guess. I’ve received my own strange looks from time to time, you betcha.

Though the church ladies in the parking lot smiled plenty there were follow-up strange looks when I entered Bishop Blake’s West Angeles Cathedral over on Crenshaw Avenue in Los Angeles a few years ago. Hey, it’s a church. All are welcome to worship. And I had my reasons for being there. And I’d seen those same kinda strange looks at the Church of God in Christ on Adelphi Street in Brooklyn a few decades ago. So what? I had reason to be there too. It’s a small world anyway. Also received a strange look when I lined up to see Tom Sawyer’s cave in Hannibal, Missouri one summer. I had no children with me and a literary interest seemed insufficient to the ticket seller. I love Huck. And Jim. And Tom. And Becky. And Twain. “Yes, I’m alone, thank you. How much to tour the cave? One ticket please.” I was in Hannibal to loose the ashes of a beloved friend into the Mississippi. Rest in peace, LB. Was the dearly departed black? Why does that matter to you? Black or not he surely helped teach me to be a grateful-American. That was his only hyphenation.

Granderson has a problem with Palin’s “curious” itinerary. She’s visiting ‘overwhelmingly white” cities. Of course this 2009 Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation award for online journalism winner cannot appear to be defamatory, so he couches his own bigotry in a perfunctory declaimer:

“This is not to say I believe Sarah Palin is a racist.”
Which is, of course, exactly what he believes. Of Palin. And of those who gather to wish her well. Claiming he is is “profoundly disappointed” in her for allowing “some of the nation’s most painful wounds to be re-opened to advance her career,” Granderson uses the raaaaacism meme to advance his own career.

Which wounds, exactly, would those be?

Gotta say Granderson's right about Noblesville, Indiana. That’s one pretty whitish city. As is the whole Hamilton county. So what? But his own city?

Grand Rapids? 67.3% white.
Fort Bragg and the Army? 73% white.
In an America that is too, then, overwhelmingly whitish. 74% not non-white.

Granderson’s just gotta wait that one out. Still overwhelmingly Christian too, is America. Mrs. Palin is both.

Wonder if Granderson has any problem with Obama visiting overwhelmingly black neighborhoods? Probably not. Typical black columnist.

Granderson also invoked the Southern Poverty Law Center’s bogus stats on the recent bogus alarming bogus increase in bogus white supremacist groups. I’m not saying LZ is lazy or stoopid, or undeserving of his multiple gay awards, or merely the regularly published result of affirmative action, or stuck in an ideological superloop, no, I'm not saying any of that, but SPLC is about as indicative of reality as is the “propaganda masquerading as science” Kinsey Report.

The Other McCain included comment about SPLC in October:

'Evil is too weak a word'

"The fabulously wealthy SPLC exaggerates the scope of racism to frighten donors into opening their wallets. SPLC is nominally a public interest law firm, but it spends little on actual litigation. Instead, it uses politically skewed definitions of racism to indoctrinate children while smearing conservatives who question racial preference programs. Evil is too weak a word to describe the Southern Poverty Law Center."

-- Matthew Vadum, Capital Research Center, and author of The Southern Poverty Law Center: A Twisted Definition of "Hate" (PDF)

Too bad about all those “frustrated white people” Granderson spots gathering to pay their cheerful respects to the heroic Mrs. Todd Palin. They seem to bring out the frustration in liberal whiners.

It's a deep disorder, that frustration. Can’t blame the melanin or the dreadlocks for that.

Into Gob -- Spit On Me For $$, Says Obama Voter in Thousand Oaks

While the President of the United States of America was paying obeisance by bowing to the Japanese Emperor and then groveling to Chine$e Overlord$ a California man caught on to the spirit of the Obama times and paid randy teens to spit in his face.

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. (AP) - A 39-year-old Southern California man has been arrested for misdemeanor child annoyance after allegedly paying a teenager $31 to spit in his face. The Ventura County Sheriff's Department says Charles Hersel was arrested Wednesday in a sting operation at a mall in Thousand Oaks. He's free from jail pending a court hearing.

A sheriff's statement says Westlake High School students claimed Hersel paid them to yell profanities, spit and slap him in the face. Several also claimed he offered them cash to urinate and defecate on him.

A motive wasn't clear. [Huh? Imitation is the sincerest form of patriotism.]

Authorities say Hersel contacted some teens through the MySpace social networking site.

Hersel couldn't be reached for comment Friday. He had no listed phone number in Thousand Oaks.

Obama Naked: International Kool Aid Shortage

Obama's America 'is the worst kind of ally'

Actually, it appears we've got an anti-ally thing going on around here.

The world divides between those who support American values of freedom and democracy, and those who seek to destroy them. Few nations have been more committed to supporting those values with both blood and treasure than Britain. This country, and especially those British troops fighting alongside their American counterparts, deserve far better than this president’s disregard."

But disregard is all they'll get.
Well that and some WalMart giftpack of dvds.
That is until he screws it all so badly that he needs some man help.

Botox -- Dingy Harry Reid: Keep Your Stinking Hands Off Of My Filler

Desperately seeking money to pay for the legislation, Mr. Reid came up with a new source of financing: a 5 percent tax on elective cosmetic medical procedures. The tax would be paid by patients, but collected by doctors and clinics and forwarded to the government.
The tax would be calculated as 5 percent of the amount paid for an elective cosmetic procedure, whether by the patient, insurance or other sources. The tax would not apply to cosmetic surgery for people with congenital abnormalities, disfiguring diseases or traumatic injuries.

Evening Updatery from Smitty over at TOMcC:
So, unlike our nation's top lawyer, Graham has a clue about the Law of War.

There would be no sin in Eric Holder just admitting that he's inexperienced in the topic, and seeking advice from people who know more. Senator Graham, for example.

This business of just Making Crap Up, when there is so much at stake, is dereliction of duty.
And Clifton B, over at Another Black Conservative says Lindsey Graham Stumps Eric Holder ... OUCH:
This is another example of the inconsistency of Lindsey Graham.  He can deliver a well thought out line of questioning like this one minute and then support complete idiocy like Cap and Trade the next.  It is this unpredictability why Graham should go bye-bye in 2014.
I'm thinking it's not that difficult to stump Erik Malik Holder. Frank Rich stumped him; America, that nation of cowards stumps him; even Columbian terrorists and Chiquita bananas stump this affirmative actioned useful idiot.

Meanwhile, over at Another Black Conservative, Clifton B gives us his impressions of the Mrs. Todd Palin / Oprah Winfrey interview yesterday.
One of the things I enjoyed was how Sarah took the high road with Levi Johnston. Palin showed forgiveness and pity for Levi. If Levi continues his smear job against Sarah (you just know he will), Levi will find himself even more ostracized than before. After all how can you continue to bad mouth someone who is willing to break bread with you over Thanksgiving dinner? Look for Levi to implode in the very near future.
I pity the Levi.
And yeah I TiVo'd the show, but haven't watched it yet. It's always a chore to watch Oprah. I did walk out of the office this morning to listen to Mrs. Todd Palin with Rush Limbaugh. Always a pleasure to listen to happy people be happy, ain't it.

Khalid Sheik Mohammed, Barack Hussein Obama, And Eric Malik Holder -- Three Stooges In NYC

This July 2009 photo downloaded from the Arabic language web site www.muslm.net shows a man identified by the site as Khalid Sheik Mohammed, the accused mastermind of the Sept. 11 attacks, in detention at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. The picture was allegedly taken by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and released only to the detainee's family. An Obama administration official said Friday Nov. 13, 2009 that accused Sept. 11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and four other Guantanamo Bay detainees will be sent to New York to face trial in a civilian federal court.

Don Surber Is Not Happy But We Are

Happy because Surber is fluent in truth and speaks courage to coward.
And we're happy enough to hear the refreshing, blunt truth that we interrupt this Shabbat for words from Surber:
KSM Collects His First Virgin

Khalid Sheikh Mohammed collected the first of his 72 virgins: Barack Obama.
This child — this spoiled brat who has been handed everything — who has never held a job — who has been told all his life how wonderful he is — who accepts no responsibility at all for anything — who blames others for all his problems — whose only accomplishment in life is not being George Bush — got rolled.
Big time.
President Obama’s decision to try KSM as if he were a purse-snatcher bares once and for all shows how shallow our president is. He is ignorant of history and of legal precedent. He would rather draw down the U.S. security forces to protect KSM so that KSM can have the world stage in New York City than trust his own military to try the man. The same military justice system that covers those soldiers he praised a few days ago should be good enough for this scum sucker, KSM.
*************
My final comment: Obama is a coward. A man would have held a press conference and announced it and defended his stand. He is in Asia instead. The media vetted Joe the Plumber better than the man who is now president. The result is feeble attempts to bully critics, a refusal to acknowledge the loyal opposition and a dithering foreign policy.
Let's repeat: "A man would have held a press conference and announced it and defended his stand."
Obama is what he is and he is no man.
Who was it said Obama's not much more than a Macy's perfume model?
Thanks, Surber, for calling a spade a spade.
As you know, I have a friend, well, many really, who still love love love Obama. One in particular -- and particularly beloved -- told me recently that he "Never thought this Obama presidency would be a transformative presidency." I thought two things when he said that. 1) Beloved friend is fibbing and 2) He's wrongo.

This is a transformative presidency. But not in the way many might have hoped.

Thanks Surber, too, for calling a coward a coward. Me thinks this is only the beginning. Over at American Spectator earlier this week Mark Hyman stated the equally plain truth that this is a president who despises America.
And so does his unhappy wife.
And everyone knows it.

GW Theme Week around here.

Dennis Miller read part of this on his show yesterday. It's from Hillbuzz and was sent to Miller by one of his listeners. I poked around Hillbuzz just for a minute this morning and it seems it's at least partly a Chicago space written by devotees of Hillary, gay guys, from, as they say, Boystown.
As we will always be grateful for what George and Laura Bush did this week, with no media attention, when they very quietly went to Ft. Hood and met personally with the families of the victims of this terrorist attack.

FOR HOURS.

The Bushes went and met privately with these families for HOURS, hugging them, holding them, comforting them.

If there are any of you out there with any connection at all to the Bushes, we implore you to give them our thanks…you tell them that a bunch of gay Hillary guys in Boystown, Chicago were wrong about the Bushes…and are deeply, deeply sorry for any jokes we told about them in the past, any bad thoughts we had about these good, good people.

If you didn't click the link above to read the whole thing then why are you here? Hillbuzz also linked to a piece they published last January. I took a quick look. Interesting notes from a gay bar on Immaculation day.

Thank you Hillbuzz. Will be spending more time there pronto. And I cannot say how good good good is Dennis Miller's radio show -- and you know I listen to a heckofalotta radio yapping. Bill Bennett's signature phrase works for Miller too: Candor, Intelligence and Good Will. Plus Miller's sharp humor. Who could ask for more?

On other matters, I was recently flicking my car radio dial and heard an affected British voice tinkling out on NPR. I assumed it was some fussy, gossipy opera expert fresh from London. To my astonishment, it was Richard Dawkins, the thrice-married emperor of contemporary atheists. I had never heard him speak, so it was a revelation. On science, Dawkins was spot on -- lively and nimble. But on religion, his voice went "Psycho" weird (yes, Alfred Hitchcock) -- as if he was channeling some old woman with whom he was in love-hate combat. I have no idea what ancient private dramas bubble beneath the surface there. As an atheist who respects and studies religion, I believe it is fair to ask what drives obsessive denigrators of religion. Neither extreme rationalism nor elite cynicism are adequate substitutes for faith, which fulfills a basic human need -- which is why religion will continue to thrive in our war-torn world.

General Casey, Dr. Phil -- Leave It To The Women To Man Up Around Here

Dorothy Rabinowitz demolishes Dr. Phil and the General

His terrorist motive is obvious to everyone but the press and the Army brass.

What is hard to ignore, now, is the growing derangement on all matters involving terrorism and Muslim sensitivities. Its chief symptoms: a palpitating fear of discomfiting facts and a willingness to discard those facts and embrace the richest possible variety of ludicrous theories as to the motives behind an act of Islamic terrorism. All this we have seen before but never in such naked form. The days following the Fort Hood rampage have told us more than we want to know, perhaps, about the depth and reach of this epidemic.

I don't have time today, or in this life, and I suspect neither does America. At least the America that still has a swingin' set of ovaries like Ms. Rabinowitz does, toting more testosterone in her set than do, apparently, our Army generals tote in their testicles -- assuming they still have sacs worthy of the name.

Dr. Phil? What would one expect? He ran with Oprah for years. So, apparently, do generals. I know a Commander in Chief who does. And all that has gotten us is futher ninnyism.

H/T to Bill Bennett who spoke of Rabinowitz this a.m. And who, by-the-by, featured Steve Forbes on his show this morning too. Saw Forbes at the Reagan Library last week. He was his usual excellent self. Succinct like that. This morning? Speaking with Dr. Bennett he called the Army general's sad political correctness dance lethal nonsense. I think that was the term. Easy to believe these days a guy like Forbes is more the man than General Casey.

One might expect, or be not surprised, by such nonsense from the pulpit -- more on that when I get the time -- and from the Phil couch and the Oprah couch -- but not from our military leaders. General Patton where are you?

And H/T to Jennifer Rubin.

PS Rabinowitz is so good today that Rubin did not offer any commentary. Nice.
PS2 Notice Rabinowitz called it a rampage, not a spree. Spree is a girlyword.
Kill the bastards dead. I understand that. More importantly, so do they.

Sharia Virginia Style: Muhammad, John Allen

Convicted religion of peace sniper John Allen Muhammad will die by lethal injection when he is executed tomorrow night.
One down a few more to go.
And do these journalists ever listen to themselves when they call those deathly rampages "sprees?" Wallace did on on Fox on Sunday too. Hate that. That was no carefree lively outting Muhammad and his boy indulged in. That was a barbaric Islamic liturgical ritual of death. But I repeat myself.
Good riddance, Muhammad.

Lee Hartsfeld vs Huffington

Mr. Lee Hartsfeld, Navy veteran -- thank you for your service, sir -- musician, and caretaker of twenty (20) cats, spots a piece on the Ft. Hood Muslim-barbarian at the Huffington Post and doesn't like what he sees:

Piece on Nidal Malik Hasan
I just read a charming piece about Nidal Malik Hasan, the Fort Hood shooter. Your job is to guess where I found it.

Now, if that's the progressive take on Hasan, I think I can live without hearing the conservative version....
Hartsfeld quotes the offending -- to him -- passages within his little quiz, but does not link to the piece. Perhaps I'll find it later to verify. Perhaps you will.
Ahh, wait, here's the anti-psychiatric piece.
What's wrong with meds? Nothing!
No word on whether any of his twenty (20) cats look like you-know-who.

Two Profiles in Class

Rory Cooper -- From The Corner

This past weekend, Americans were treated to two completely different profiles in class.

First there was former president George W. Bush. On Friday night, George and Laura Bush traveled by car to Fort Hood to meet with the devastated families of last week’s tragedy. They specifically asked the base commander not to alert the press, and spent hours simply doing what they could to comfort the grief-stricken families.

The story was eventually uncovered, as these moments tend to be, but clearly President Bush did not see this as a personal opportunity, nor did he want to upstage the current president. The former president saw his interactions with wounded soldiers and their families as private moments.
...
While President Bush was at Fort Hood consoling the victims of real radical extremism, President Obama was in Washington calling American families who don’t support his health-care plan “extremists.” A more enlightening profile of the two men could not be found.

Miss them yet?
As we like to note, class will tell.

Wisdom Of Solomon Wisdom Of Google

I can sometimes tell what Google's up to but sometimes not so much. Doing some iPhone and some online Kindle2 Boom3 searches the other day and Google linked me not to this space, not to Boom Boom Boom, but to The Wisdom of Solomon, thus speaking to the mysterious wisdom of Google algorithms. I couldn't figure it out, because I saw no direct Boom3 linkages -- other than in spirit -- between Solomon and Contento. But I'm not complaining. Nope.

Perhaps we were linked because of our theme song. WOS likes the Talking Heads too.

Perhaps because we both seem to favor this pic -- and here's were Google linked us -- of Mr. Dad of the Sharia Year. Dunno. Sharia be damned.

But never mind, I'm pleased for the hittage from the Google -- that's the point of vanity searches, ain't it. And the same searches are retrieving different results three days later. But so what? The good work is done. There's plenty to like over at Wisdom. Including his story today about CB over at Another Black Conservative. WOS, like we do, finds CB to be always gracious and generous. He'll get me to watch Clifton B. on Beck on the 13th, surely. Thanks for the heads up.

I'm a trained professional, I should be able to figure this stuff out. But, again, like with The Wisdom of Solomon, I could not discern the reasons when Google also linked us to the Infidel Bloggers Alliance. Liken that, liken it plenty, however it occured.

And The Wall Came Tumbling Down

The Man.

Later I could tell you about my day (Broes' take there) at the Reagan Library -- thanks Boss and Mr. T for covering for me on Friday -- but meanwhile now's a good time to watch The Lives Of Others.

Cody Lightning -- Four Sheets To The Wind

It's happened acoupla three times this year. Find a movie. Love it. Look it up on Rotten Tomatoes and find out it got a 100% Fresh rating on the TomatoMeter.

Yesterday it was Four Sheets To The Wind.
Sweet and sad and lovely and beautiful and American. Do your own review.
And to think, I almost bumped it down my Netflix list in favor of IronMan. Glad I'm no fool.

Oh, and it says something positive about not saying anything. Liked that plenty.
Bonus: Christian Kane was in it for a minute. Always a treat. Most recently a treat, with Rachel Milner, in Hide. Though that might be a little brutal for you -- no bluebirds and all.

Murder At Fort Hood -- Jennifer Rubin

Yeah I heard Jennifer Rubin speak here in LaLaLand last week? Two weeks ago?
Time flies.

I call it inspired. Everyday.
It's Friday a.m. now -- regardless of the time stamp of this post. And:
On an unispiring topic, here's Ms. Rubin's initial take on Ft. Hood.

Horse Buggery -- Rodell Vereen

SC registered Democrat sex offender gets 3 years in prison for sex with horse
Nov 4 01:57 PM US/Eastern

CONWAY, S.C. (AP) - A South Carolina Obama voter horse lover caught on video having sex with a horse was sentenced Wednesday to three years in prison after pleading guilty for the second time in two years to abusing the creature.
Rodell Vereen was also ordered never to go near the stable where the horse's owner caught him and held him for authorities at shotgun point over the summer. He apologized to the woman and to himself after admitting to buggery at the Horry County courthouse.

"I'm sorry about what I've done. I didn't mean to do it. It's my fault. I'm sorry for what I've done to myself," Vereen said during Wednesday's court hearing.

Vereen was arrested
in July after Barbara Kenley caught him entering the barn at Lazy B Stables in Longs, about 20 miles northeast of Myrtle Beach. She had been staking out the stable for more than a week after setting up a surveillance camera and videotaping Vereen's assault on her 21-year-old horse named Sugar.
"I'm sorry about what I've done.
I didn't mean to do it.
It's my fault.
I'm sorry for what I've done to myself. . ."

Michael Yon -- Britain's Finest

What the real men are up to.
Great Britain Loses one of its Finest

03 November 2009

British soldiers at war are an incredible group. Courageous, competent, and committed in very difficult conditions. An email came today from London, from a BBC correspondent who has been to Afghanistan saying that Staff Sergeant Olaf Schmid had been killed.

According to the Oxford Mail,

Lt Col Robert Thomson, the commanding officer of the 2 Rifles Battle Group, said: “Staff Sgt Oz Schmid was simply the bravest and most courageous man I have ever met."

“Under relentless IED and small arms attacks, he stood taller than the tallest. He opened the Pharmacy Road and 24 hours later, found 31 IEDs in one go on route Sparta. Every single company in 2 Rifles adored working with him."
