At the time of his death, Vazquez was making plans to attend college. He dreamed of becoming a doctor so that his mother, a farmworker, could retire from the backbreaking labor of harvesting almonds.

Lance Corporal Vasquez. Lance Corporal Strain. Camp Pendleton. I have a picture of a Marine, Camp Pendleton based and onward, hanging on my dining room wall. Your posts regarding these men (and women) bring to my mind one word: sacrifice. Sacrifice. Greater love hath no man than to lay down his life for another. Thank you so much.
