Eighty-five Percent of Americans Are Happy With Their Health Care -- I'm One Of Them
Each of us approaches our own health care in our own way. Some are faithful about getting their annual physicals, some go to the doctor at the first sign of a sniffle, and some are like me. My philosophy has always been "ignore it and it will go away."

I probably should have gotten a clue when the cold didn't go away after two months. Certainly by the time the third month rolled around, the cough had gone from bad to worse and I was experiencing a shortness of breath, common sense should have kicked in. The "light bulb" finally came on at three o'clock this morning. I woke up and I was suffocating and soaked in sweat. I went out to the porch and as I gasped for each painful breath I knew it wasn't a cold and it wasn't going away.

I was at my doctor's office at 8:00 a.m. Within ten minutes I was being given a breathing treatment and my blood was being drawn. By 10:00 a.m. I was at the hospital having x rays of my lungs. I walked in to my office at 11:30 armed with four prescriptions including an inhaler. My doctor had talked to me about the obvious diagnosis of COPD and emphysema and we danced around cancer. My doctor told me that we would "face it together" and I knew he meant it. By four o'clock my doctor had called me and told me that I have no sign of cancer. I'll see him again on Tuesday and they will call me tomorrow and let me know what day next week I'll see a specialist.

Can anyone tell of any country with a government run health program where my story would be the same? How many weeks do patients wait in Canada or Great Britain to see a primary care physician? How many weeks or months do patients wait to see a specialist? Or get an x ray? To find out test results?

I haven't heard anyone say that health care in this country is perfect. Almost everyone agrees that we need reform. If we allow government takeover of our health care 100 million people could be forced off their current plans and forced on to the government plan. Aside from government health care being blatantly unAmerican, it doesn't make sense. Tonight the President can promise anything and everything but we already have example after example have how flawed government health care is in practice.

I found out today that I will spend the rest of my life under a doctor's care. I am fifty-one years old and I plan on the rest of my life being a very long time. In order for that to happen I have some work to do and I need to take responsibility for my health. I also need the level of health care that I have now, not a bunch of empty promises from the president.

While I Have A Minute

Get me outta here.
He is not alone in suggesting such a scenario. A 2007 book, "The Day of Islam," spells out the details, as do any number of Internet sites about a plot called "American Hiroshima."
The nukes, he said, will be detonated over New York, Washington, D.C., Chicago, Miami, Houston, Las Vegas and Los Angeles.
I asked Hill, "Why now?"
"Eight years from 1993 to 2001, eight years from that 9/11 to this 9/11," he said. "Symbolism. They're big on symbolism."
"Ramadan started two weeks ago Saturday," he said, referring to the Muslim holy month of fasting. "It always hits around Ramadan."

Not the only reason I'm trying to get the hell outta LaLaLand, but it's on the list.

What was I saying yesterday regarding the oddly worded "survey" on the FaceBook thing?

The voucher program began in 2004 during the evil racist George W. Bush administration. Children whose families had an annual income at or below 185 percent of the federal poverty guidelines qualified for vouchers. More than 1,700 children participated in the program. The progressive rainbow Obama administration offered and then rescinded scholarships to 216 D.C. students in the spring when the program was canceled.

Once Upon a Time . . . by Victor Davis Hanson

VDH Hits It Again
Once Upon a Time . . . by Victor Davis Hanson

Once upon a time, a fresh new politician, Barack Obama — black, young, eloquent, and hip — soared with rhetoric about hope and change. The people were mesmerized. What a contrast with the tongue-tied outgoing president, George W. Bush, and his unpopular wars in Iraq and Afghanistan!

I rarely watch TV anymore except for cooking shows, history and science documentaries, old movies and football. Hence I was blissfully free from the retching overkill that followed the deaths of Michael Jackson and Ted Kennedy -- I never saw a single minute of any of it. It was on talk radio, which I have resumed monitoring around the clock because of the healthcare fiasco, that I heard the passionate voices of callers coming directly from the town hall meetings. Hence I was alerted to the depth and intensity of national sentiment long before others who were simply watching staged, manipulated TV shows.

Same here, Camille. Didn't see a second of Jackson or the fat murdering drunk. My friends, bless their beloved hearts, boohood on FaceBook though. Sob sob.
Retching overkill. Thanks for that.

Think Before You Yap, Honey

Secretary of State Mrs. William Jefferson Blythe "Hillary!" Clinton is upset about a-b-o-r-t-i-o-n. Yes, abortion.
Well, not abortion per se.
But some abortions. And some infanticides.
Of girls.
She has outspokenout around the globe about the scourge of killing our girl children.
Apparently killing boys is okay.
Secretary Clinton, the most cheated on woman in America,
has -- even at her advanced age -- and even by accident,
even without thinking it through before pronouncing her pronouncement,
grasped an essential truth:
It is wrong to kill baby girls.
Hear hear.

But guess what?
It might also be wrong to kill baby boys, Mrs. William Jefferson Blythe "Hillary!" Clinton.
Uh huh.
And it is wrong to kill baby gays.
It is wrong to kill baby down syndromes.
It is wrong to kill baby red-haired step-children.
It is wrong to kill baby "you're really badly timed, child" babies.
And left-handed babies.
And obesity gene babies.
And scholarly not athletic babies.
And, even, Republican babies.
For starters, you assholes.
Hey, Mrs. William Jefferson Blythe "Hillary!" Clinton, just saying.
The problem is not sex selection abortion.
The problem is abortion.
Many politicians desperately hope that the issue will just go away. But it won't.
Tain't a choice, sorry. Tis a child. Sorry.
What? Don't they teach logic at Wellesley?
You skipped those classes?
Logic up, Hon.

The Only Word Is Creepy

Lest we forget these parents in the background, our neighbors, purring so hope-and-changefully at their poor spawn. Creepy then, creep now.
Just last fall. Yeah, upper middle-class, liberal, westside of LA child abuse......oh, look, I guess they don't want to let us watch them any longer. Heh. Too bad. Once posted, still findable. There is no privacy. Get used to it.

Hope is for chumps.

Thank Madonna For Standing Up to Islamic Thugs, Raising Israeli Flag
By Debbie Schlussel
Recently, I told you how the typical anti-Israel thugs were demanding that Madonna cancel her planned Israeli trip and concert.
Well, it’s now official.  Ignoring the Jew-haters and self-hating Jews, Madonna performed her concert in Tel Aviv, yesterday.  And– a bonus–she raised the Israeli flag.  That’s brave for her, and I give her credit and props for that.  And now she’s under attack from every segment of the Muslim and extremist world, not to mention nutty YouTube commenters (though that could be redundant).

First Kill All The "Journalists"

Yes I've seen the heartbreaking photograph. No, I won't link it for you.

The AP reported that the Marine’s father had asked – in an interview and in a follow-up phone call — that the image, taken by an embedded photographer, not be published.
The AP reported in a story that it decided to make the image public anyway because it “conveys the grimness of war and the sacrifice of young men and women fighting it.”
The photo shows Lance Cpl. Joshua M. Bernard of New Portland, Maine, who was struck by a rocket-propelled grenade in a Taliban ambush Aug. 14 in Helmand province of southern Afghanistan, according to The AP.

Bush appointee and Obama holdover appointee Defense Secretary Gates wrote to the AP:
“I cannot imagine the pain and suffering Lance Corporal Bernard’s death has caused his family. Why your organization would purposefully defy the family’s wishes knowing full well that it will lead to yet more anguish is beyond me. Your lack of compassion and common sense in choosing to put this image of their maimed and stricken child on the front page of multiple American newspapers is appalling. The issue here is not law, policy or constitutional right – but judgment and common decency.”

Perhaps The Most Idiotic "Debate" Ever

Can't get enough of this father of five. Ever seen his youth-speedo pics? Here, I'll include 'em. No wonder Mrs. Other McCain seems contenta.

I'm not saying I'm gaying when I mention his speedo pics, I'm just saying not every guy can don the speedo and get away with it. Obviously the young Other McCain can/could.

I'm in favor of foreskining myself, but (tmi) I'm cut and it's -- oh never mind. (Pics available on request.) Heh. Still, Mr. Other McCain makes me laugh out loud every day, no less so when he speaks of penis's, and moreso when he addresses Der Beagle's sad and sorry opinion on any/everything. Sully: cuddle up with your hubby and hush now, willya?

TOMcC is a prophet, fo sho.
Grab a cup of STFU, you foreskin-fascinated freaks! By your folly you are in danger of inciting wrath such as befell the residents Shalem, when Shechem the son of Hamor the Hivite offended Levi and Simeon by shamefully mistreating their sister, Jacob and Leah's daughter Dinah.

Somehow, that old story seems relevant. Look it up, heathen -- and beware!
What did Isaiah say? Oh yeah: All flesh is grass.

Der Beagle Update: from PTown 9/11/09

Sincere And Yes, Classy

Despite years of bitter partisan attacks from the fat lecherous old drunk, the Bush style reminds us of how to treat one another.
Hope to learn this myself. Perhaps tomorrow.
Besides his personal call to the bereaved Vicki Kennedy:

George W. Bush said in a statement:
"Laura and I are saddened by the death of Sen. Ted Kennedy. We extend our condolences and prayers to Sen. Kennedy’s wife, Vicki, and all of their family.

Ted Kennedy spent more than half his life in the United States Senate. He was a man of passion who advocated fiercely for his convictions. I was pleased to work with Sen. Kennedy on legislation to raise standards in public schools, reform immigration and ensure dignity and fair treatment for Americans suffering from mental illness.

In a life filled with trials, Ted Kennedy never gave in to self-pity or despair. He maintained his optimistic spirit, his sense of humor and his faith in his fellow citizens. He loved his family and his country — and he served them until the end. He will be deeply missed."
Acoupla appropriate fibs, some tipping of the hat, a nod to the family; that's how to do it.
